Learning Outcome - The learner will:Assessment Criterion - The learner can:
1

Understand health & safety policy and procedures in relation to the management of a safe event.

1.1

Establish liability in relation to managing a specific event and plan effectively to ensure that the implications of personal liability in relation to the event are managed.

1.2

Undertake strategic health & safety planning for a specific event, to include:

a. explanation of the legal responsibilities of event management in relation to current health & safety law;

b. creation of a suitable risk assessment, using the HSE’s ‘Five Steps to Risk Assessment’ approach, for all identified, relevant hazards to include:

i. hazards which could cause loss, damage or injury during pre and post production and on the event itself;

ii. establishment of practicable hazard control measures, using the health & safety management hierarchy of control principle (ERICPD).

1.3

Monitor health and safety at the live music event identified in 1.2, in line with measures implemented in 1.2b ii. 

NB Learners should not be placed in the position of having ultimate responsibility for health and safety at the event.

1.4

Evaluate the success of the event via an analysis of the effectiveness of the health and safety procedures put in place and identify areas requiring further development in relation to managing safe events in future.
