Assessment Guidance

Workplace assessment of occupational competence is required.  This must be carried out in line with the guidance available from the Learning Provider’s section of Skillsmart Retail’s website (www.skillsmartretail.com).  The guidance consists of: Assessment Principles; a booklet containing assessment guidance for each unit; and a list of some agreed equivalences between previous and current versions of units.

produce staffing schedules that:

  • cover all the operational needs that the team is responsible for meeting
  • take account of the operational constraints that apply
  • take account of the existing skills of staff
  • show how work will be allocated between available staff
  • show the locations where individuals will work
  • show the times when individuals will start and finish work
  • comply with relevant laws, organisational policy relating to working hours and individual contracts of employment
  • attempt to make it easy for team members to understand and use
  • include contingency plans to cope with unusual situations
