Understand roles and responsibilities in the reduction of risks to health and safety in the workplace

Define “hazards” and “risks”

Explain personal responsibilities and legal duties in respect of health and safety in the workplace

Identify which workplace instructions are relevant to the job

Be able to assess the risks to health and safety in the workplace

Describe the hazards which exist in the workplace and the safe working practices which must be followed

Explain the importance of remaining alert to the presence of hazards in the workplace

Identify those aspects of the workplace and working practices which could harm people
