Learning Outcome - The learner will:		Assessment Criterion - The learner can:
1	Know and demonstrate measuring methods for a range of textile/clothing items. (MSP3)	1.1	. Identify accurate measurements for a range of shapes and forms, including standard body measurements.
		1.2	. Identify and state purpose of a range of flexible and rigid measuring tools and associated materials and equipment.
		1.3	. Take accurate measurements using both flexible and rigid measuring tools.
		1.4	. Record accurate measurements for specific purposes.
2	Apply measurements for specific purpose to ensure accurate production. (MSP3)	2.1	. Use accurate measurements to make basic adjustments to commercial patterns or diagrams, to ensure fitness for purpose.
		2.2	. Calculate accurate quantities of fabric required to take adjustments made into account.
		2.3	. Record adjustments made for future reference.
3	Prepare fabrics for accurate cutting. (MSP3)	3.1	. Identify types of preparation that may be required to ensure that fabric is stabilised for future use.
		3.2	. Apply relevant methods of fabric preparation for specific purposes.
		3.3	. Identify the range of methods to lay the fabric for accurate and economical cutting for single and multiply lay methods.
		3.4	. Identify basic modifications to fabric lay for fabrics which require matching or have one way design, and calculate variations in fabric requirements for one of these contexts.
4	Understand requirements for preparing and cutting fabrics, using fabrics which do not require special handing. (MSP3)	4.1	. Accurately and economically, mark shapes to be cut, ensuring fabric remains flat and accurate relationship to grain is made.
4		4.2	. Select appropriate cutting tools to cut pieces accurately, retaining balance marks as required.
5	Understand and use different marking methods. (MSP3)	5.1	. Identify and outline uses of a range of commonly used marking methods and tools to include thread, chalk, pens, carbon.
5	Understand and use different marking methods. (MSP3)	5.2	. Select and accurately use appropriate marking methods for fabric and intended use of item.
